SIFTING AND PROCESSING INFORMATION

Even more sifting and processing of information than before? More than in my textbooks and required reading you ask?
TMI?
YES- Too much information! What is a student to do?

Above is a simple but clear diagram made using Bubbl.us. It's purpose is to show the correlation between what research is telling us about how are brains are all wired in ways that make us each individuals as new technologies are developed to support individual learning. Consider the synergystic effect of combining what neurologists know now about the human brain and interactive web technologies!

The inputs, information exchange, applications, and mechanisms of web 2.0 can be understood easily by looking at the image above. As we know, the layering of information is growing in complexity everyday, but the essential structure remains. The better exposure to items within each category, the better the optimization of their shared characteristics.

Above is a more modern display. Both illustrate how information is found, edited, and shared on the web using web 2.0. and all are a part of social networking.

This information exchange can be a tremendous advantage for students challenged by learning differences. Contrary to the formal give and take common to current classroom experiences, communication with others suffering similar disabilities can provide something very real transferred from one person to another.

I created a concept map illustrating the complex interaction and correlation of actions that transpire when using social media to overcome LD.
